Candler, NC

Physicians

Thomas T German, MD

Dr. German serves as a family care physician at Mission My Care Plus. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. His special interests include pediatrics, sports medicine and behavioral medicine.


Dr. German is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians. He enjoys playing an active role in the community. His hobbies include woodcarving, hiking and native plant gardening.

Jennifer L. Neumann, MD

Dr. Neumann joins Mission My Care Plus after serving as a staff physician at Iliuliuk Family and Health Services, Inc. in Unalaska, AK. There, she provided a full spectrum of medical care, including prenatal care, on a rural island in the Bering Sea, more than 800 miles from the nearest hospital. 


Prior to moving to Alaska, Dr. Neumann completed her residency in family medicine at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in Asheville, NC. During her residency, she worked part-time as a staff physician at Sisters of Mercy Urgent Care. She earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, NJ. 


Additionally, Dr. Neumann has international medical volunteer experience in Ghana, Haiti and Honduras. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Currently, Dr. Neumann is working toward a master of public health, with a concentration on public health leadership, through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Jana Watts, MD

Dr. Jana Watts joins Mission My Care Plus in Candler after serving as the lead physician for the Mission Sports and Rehab Clinic. A primary care physician, Dr. Watts has a special professional interest in sports medicine, with an emphasis in treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and sports concussions.

Dr. Watts also serves as one of the team physicians for the University of North Carolina Asheville Bulldogs and the Warren Wilson College Owls. Sheis an active member of Mission Sports Medicine.

A North Carolina native, Dr. Watts has lived in Asheville for 13 years. She enjoys biking, practicing Pilates, attending local sporting events and spending time with her family.

Jonathan Snipes, PharmD

Dr. Snipes serves Mission My Care Plus as a licensed pharmacist. He earned his doctorate of pharmacy at the South Carolina College of Pharmacy-USC Campus in Columbia, SC. Dr. Snipes came to the mountains of North Carolina due to a love for hiking and the great outdoors. He brings with him over 10 years of retail pharmacy experience. He and his team offer patients medication counseling, medication reviews and quick, friendly service. 

Dianne Sorensen, PT

Sorensen is a licensed physical therapist with a certificate in physical therapy from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Sorensen brings more than 20 years of experience in rehabilitation services including advanced treatment techniques for spinal dysfunctions, orthopedic problems and soft tissue dysfunctions.

Sorensen offers an expert evaluation and develops an individualized care plan to meet patients’ treatment goals. Her areas of expertise include: evaluations and treatment plans, spinal stabilization, balance, geriatric services and fall prevention, sports medicine and orthopedic post-op rehab.

Leicester, NC

Physicians

Karen Le Hew, MD

Dr. Le Hew received her medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL. She completed her residency at Portsmouth Family Medicine in Portsmouth, VA, part of Eastern Virginia Medical School. She also completed a transitional internship with the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth and served as a Naval Flight Surgeon with the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, FL.

Dr. Le Hew is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. Her professional interests include adolescent patient care, orthopedics and sports injuries.

Justin Parker, DO

Dr. Parker joins Mission My Care Plus after completing his residency in family medicine at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in Asheville, NC. He earned his medical degree from the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA.

Dr. Parker is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. His professional interests include anxiety and depression, functional pain syndromes (fibromyalgia and irritable bowel syndrome), integrative medicine and the relationship of western medicine to other traditions of healthcare, nutrition, women’s health and the systemic prevention of medical errors.

Timothy Poulton, MD

Dr. Timothy Poulton joins Mission My Care Plus in Leicester after completing his residency in family medicine with Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in Asheville. He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

His medical interests include prenatal care, sports medicine, pediatrics and adolescent medicine. Dr. Poulton enjoys family medicine because it allows him to establish strong, long-term relationships that can span multiple generations. He believes in partnering with patients to develop a plan for health and wellness.

Dr. Poulton has enjoyed spending time as a volunteer at the ABCCM Medical Clinic, as well as participating in medical mission trips to Honduras. He loves spending time outdoors with his wife and son, including hiking, camping and enjoying all that the region has to offer.

Jeremy Sylvanus, MD

Dr. Sylvanus joins Mission My Care Plus after completing his residency in family medicine at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in Asheville, NC. He earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado at Denver Health Sciences Center in Denver, CO.


Dr. Sylvanus is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine and has experience as an international medical volunteer in Honduras.


He was inspired to become a physician as a way to use his scientific interests and abilities to become a force for good in his community. Dr. Sylvanus chose family medicine as his specialty because he enjoys caring for patients and their families at all stages of life and appreciates the close relationships formed by providing this lifelong care.


Dr. Sylvanus is a multi-sport recreational athlete, enjoying hiking, cycling and skiing. He is learning Spanish and is married with twin girls.

Jennifer K. Lewis, FNP

Lewis serves as Mission My Care Plus – Asheville’s Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her medical education from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN.

She has experience in several areas of medicine including women’s health, geriatrics, pediatrics and urgent care.
